A veteran digital strategist, founder, and communications agency CEO with 30 years of experience working at the intersection of the internet and US politics, Jonah has previously founded two successful digital agencies and a leading digital rights non-profit, and has served a senior advisor and strategist to Fortune 500 companies, industry associations, and federal, state, and local office candidates.
As founder and CEO of Connections Media, Jonah built and led an agency offering digital strategy, design, digital marketing, and analytics services for leading foundations, industry associations, Fortune 500 companies, and select candidates for local, state, and federal office, including the Aspen Institute, the Auto Alliance, Bloomberg Philanthropies, JDRF, Google, NBC, PhRMA, Starbucks, the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, and New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg’s 2005 and 2009 re-election campaigns. Connections Media was founded in 2004 and acquired in 2013 by the communications agency holding company Next15. The firm became part of its Outcast agency in 2019.
Before Connections Media, Jonah was the Chief Strategist of Mindshare Internet Campaigns, which he co-founded in 1997 as a first-of-its-kind strategy and technology consultancy offering Internet strategies for corporate, association, and non-profit clients, including AOL, the Business Software Alliance, HP, and the Markle Foundation. In 2004, Jonah sold his interest in Mindshare to his partners.
In addition to his agency work, Jonah was the cofounder and Communications Director for the Center for Democracy & Technology (CDT), which promotes democratic values and constitutional liberties in the digital age. As one of the organization’s group of five founders in 1994, Jonah’s role was to establish and build the communications operation, including all digital and media relations. During this time, CDT gained national prominence, shaping public policy for the early internet and creating coalitions of industry and non-profit groups on privacy, security, and free expression.
Jonah has been on the Operating Council of Mixing Board, a community of top brand and communications leaders and a new way for businesses to access expertise since 2021 and has served as an Advisor to the Broadscale Group since 2020.
